Helping an Aged Care workforce to Click!

Did you know? between 2017 and 2025, the number of people using aged care home care services in Australia increased 307%.

The client

We recently had contact from a national aged care provider was looking for a training option for their large, aged care workforce that did not focus on compliance.

The company had been rolling out training to meet the increase in compliance and regulation requirements, and rightly so. These training requirements are essential. Staff started to ask for training that would improve themselves, how they worked and was not focused on compliance. They were in ‘compliance fatigue’.

The challenges facing the Learning and Development team to be able to respond to this request was:

  • A limited budget to deliver a solution

  • The limited time that staff could be ‘off the floor’ or not directly engaged in their role

  • It had to be easy to deliver to a large team across multiple states

  • The diverse make-up of the team including many with English as a Second Language

  • Some teams were together in a facility, and many worked alone in client homes

Click! Colours ticked all their boxes:

  • It met the needs of staff seeking training to build their own skills and knowledge

  • It cost less than $30 per person

  • It can be delivered in as little as 30-minutes

  • There is no requirement for pre- or post-delivery homework

  • It can easily be embedded through discussions, language and conversations, both formal and informal

  • It is applicable to everyone in the company from executive level to in-home aged care workers to administrative staff to the maintenance team.

The solution was to accredit the L&D team to be Click! Colours facilitators for in-house delivery. They have now begun the roll out across the company.

Initial feedback from the L&D team was that it was easy to deliver and everyone enjoyed it.

Initial feedback from the learners was a realisation that it could be used with each other and the people they supported.

The advantages or benefits that Click! Colours will bring includes:

  • Improved communication within the team and across teams

  • More effective handovers between staff at shift change

  • Improved communication and connection between in-home workers that often feel isolated

  • Better awareness of how to communicate with clients and their families

And the biggest benefit:

  • Staff retention. The company listened and acted upon a request from staff that will benefit the staff, the clients and the organisation.

If any of this resonates with you, even if you are not in aged care, let’s chat and see how Click! Colours can be a solution for you.

Some interesting stats for the Analysers and Safekeepers among us:

Between 2017 and 2025, Australia’s population aged 65 and over grew by 24% and the number of people using home care services increased 307%.
